See the Work We Do

Word of Grace Ministry serves in four distinct areas to bring the Word to people who need it. While our prison ministry is our most extensive effort, we remain committed to all four areas, believing that the Gospel is needed everywhere.

Prison Ministry

We equip inmates with the spiritual tools they need to live a life of freedom, even while incarcerated.

Nursing Homes

We bring the church to homebound believers through weekly preaching and hymn singing.

Homeless Outreach

We are committed to helping the homeless population and others who live on the margins in our community.

Street Preaching

We go to those in the streets, bringing the Word and proclaiming the Gospel every step of the way.

Our mission

Bringing the lost to the foot of the cross

Those who want to come but cannot. Or those who need to hear the Gospel, but cannot easily access it. How can we be a light to people in this hard spot? Word of Grace Ministry (WoGM) is a Christian organization burdened for these very people: those in “the highways and the hedges” of our local area. We believe that God's Word and His Gospel should be available to everyone, regardless of where they are.

Rev. Wesley Stephens, the Founder of WoGM, aims to give Gospel truth to the lost and to fellow saints. Through weekly outreach, worship services, and Bible courses, he ministers to folks in and around Western North Carolina. Our mission is built on boldness to serve Christ and go where others cannot.

Meet rev. Wesley Stephens

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Wesley planted roots with his wife, Karen, in Dillsboro, NC. He has been dedicated to serving the WNC region for many years. He serves as an Elder and Outreach Pastor at Barberville Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC.

From weekly worship services at the local nursing home, to Bible studies at local jails and prisons, he brings the Gospel wherever the Lord takes him.

Since 2010, we have been committed to the strict stewardship of the resources provided by people like you. Consider the mechanics of a rescue: It takes one person to go down the well, but it takes another to hold the rope.

Word of Grace Ministry is committed to going down—into the jails, nursing homes, and margins of our community. But we cannot descend without you. Your partnership supplies the rope. You may not physically enter a prison cell, but through your giving, you are holding the line that allows us to be there.
